Line rental
« on: 21 September 2013, 15:47:09 »

Hi all.... Just had a mail through for some more partnership deals (John Lewis/Waitrose). Offering fibre broadband for £12.50 a month (100GB usage) and 38meg speed. I currently get this speed with Infinity but with 40 GB usage.
Bit I don't understand...is why as a long standing BT customer, can JL offer a highly better price....and....what really pigs me...is offering line rental at 13.50. I pay 15.50 ish for BT line rental, although I suppose JL could be ex vat and BT inc vat

Annoyed....High Wycombe >:(

Aren't the current Infinitys uncapped (but shaped)?

As for costs, many try to cut the base cost, possibly to a loss, but then use upselling techniques for profit. Hence, when working out the best/cheapest for me, I stick with BT.

Do your homework, work out what you need/want (eg, 1571, itemised billing, caller display etc etc) and what you could live without, and see whos best. Probably best to avoid long contracts though. My mum had a hell of a job trying to get away from the Carphone Whorehouse when they were reluctant to get BT out to fix the line.

As with all service providers, loyalty does not generate discount  :'(
