Basically you'r stuffed, transfers occur at midnight, or whenever they choose so as to make the most money. However the unfair Bank charges thing hasn't yet been finalised ( they are going to get hit for huge amounts and are trying to stay execution as long as poss), so if you get hit, you can always claim back afterwards. As well to have a "parachute Account" set up with an alternative bank, in case they try the old "we are going to ask you to close your account" trick, and you can say, "yes, OK, Up yours!". I have been with Natwest, and they have been, shall we say "unhelpful" to my situation, which has cost me a lot. Never mind, sh1t has a habit of sticking. Don't be put down by these people, they are after free use of your money, and if you move, they loose. Also a lot of it is bluff. One of my Companies was fined by the Tax Man, unfairly. I wrote letters only to get the same stupid reply, I took it to the Tax Commisioners and won, which saved £500. The Tax Man (or Women !) is a human being, but is constrained by a crap system to think and respond in a certain way. When it reaches a normal human being, the stupidities become apparent, and the time wasting is dumped.
Did you go to your Bank to try and sort this out ?. Thing is if you did, you could legitimately charge mileage to/from them at 40p/mile, that is the accepted Tax Rate for mileage, which could make their punitive £30 fine look silly.
(this is prob the most sensible thing I have said for a while!!!) Nill illigitamus non tatum carborundum (don't let the b*stards grind you down!)
