Pictures of the wishbone change.
« on: 25 May 2008, 17:53:32 »

Done the near side today and I thought I'd take some pics to help those are thinking of doing theirs.

All stripped down ready for a new one

This is where the back bush goes.

and the front.

Couple of blurry shots of where the ball joint and pinch bolt fit.

Headlight level sensor up out of the way.

This is what it fits onto.

New wishbone ready to be fitted.

Tools that make the job much easier. Windy gun, breaker bar,

Ball joint splitter to remove track rod end without damage and a big can of plus gas.

Grafting away as usual.

We found offering up the wishbone from this angle made it easier to get the bush into place.

Back bolt going in.

Now for the front bush.

Wishbone fitted.

Level sensor replaced.

Nearly finished now.

Job done, just fit the wheel and then torque up both of the bolts.

Axle stand, trolley jack as a back up and front wheel under chassis, just in case.

Proper job Cap'n. Thanks for the pics, they'll certainly help with my foray into the nearside 'bone this evening.

These need to be incorporated into the maintenance guide on wishbone replacement so that they don't fall into obscurity somewhere in the bowels of 'general chat' history.

That is very interesting... I did get the wishbones in and was going to replace them, but I sold the Omega before getting a chance to replace the wishbones... so Mikedundy now has them :)

This will be a great help to someone who is about to get them done, and no doubt will be moved to the Maintenance Guides section.

Well done Cap!
