Er..you can open a new account with GiffGaff and retain your old number but as far as I know they are separate companies so no direct 'transfer', GiffGaff just pays to use the O2 network.

Yes you can, just request PAC code. You can transfer the number you have to any network you wish  :y

But be warned that they seem to have more than their fair share of infrastructure issues resulting on no service ::)

Fine if the phone is just for personal use but if you are running a 24/7, Emergency Call out business it can be rather awkward :-X ::)

Thankfully it's just my backup phone so no harm :y

Unless they have changed their T&C's recently, i think you might find in their T&C's its personal use only  ;)

NiffNaff have had a really bad couple of weeks. Normally its just trying to pay for the service thats a pain in the arse, but the last couple of weeks has made using the service slightly difficult.

That said, the number of issues I've had with the actual service itself over the last 2 or 3 years, I'll keep using them for a bit longer - not through any loyalty, but because round here O2 is the only viable service, so that means O2, Tesco or NiffNaff.

I cancelled all my NiffNaff accounts, bar one (the carphone, that needs a 900Mhz GSM provider).

3G coverage is poor. 4G even worse. Data speeds were N/A as data rarely worked.

As a spare I would recommend them but many people are disappointed with them ::)

Depends on needs/expectations. For a bog standard, non Smartphone, it works well if you can tolerate the fact you can't rely on their payment systems to work, meaning you run out of credit unexpectedly.

For data use, avoid.

Used GG for the last 6 months. Really wanted to like it but I was frequently struggling to make calls, even when the phone was showing full signal strength. Initially thought it was my phone at fault.

Internet was a real pain as it would often not work. Google Maps would never work despite four bars of signal, so navigation often stopped and would not display the maps for many minutes.

Absolutely awful. Moved to a mainstream provider and have had seamless calls and internet for the last month or so. To be honest moving to a different provider has made me realise how crap GG was.

This thread is interesting, because when I moved to GG, the overall feedback was positive.

Yes there seems to be a mixed response , not interested in internet so just calls and texts . I will give it a go for a month .

Wonder how Mr Gonads got on with gg  :-\
