Central locking oddness.
« on: 13 October 2013, 00:37:06 »

I keep returning to my car, to find it either unlocked, or its unlocking without flashing the indicators and I'm not hearing it unlock.  ...or, I haven't locked it. (I never leave it unlocked, ever, extra specially not if theres admins about ::) )

Any ideas? :)

I was practicing repairing old fobs with a soldering iron from the scrappies and got a few of them going, led flashing and the like. Went out next day and my car was open and the boot lid was popped. none of them was paired with my car but one had still managed to open it!

Yes come to think of it I had a few strange things with central locking and then later with power sounder - replaced battery and then everything absolutely fine.

Battery is pretty new.

Power sounder refurbed. (Master told me to bin it though. Lethal regardless :( )

Not aware of any issues with either. Holds charge well, starts strongly, even if lights or ignitiation or both are left on for a while.
No false Alarms.

To me its either unlocking itself, or is unlocking stealthily. Ie no indicators flashing.

The key has a good range on it, so its quite possible I wouldn't here the locks throw at that distance.

Plus, it only ever happens in car parks, never at home.

How many keys are programmed to the ATWS? How many do you have?

Any sign of lock picking? Pissed anyone off lately?

(OK, ignore that last question, we all know the answer :P)

Unlock button over sensitive to fob shaking, or slightest of button pressing? How old are the switches?

Mine is mostly in carparks, but occasionally at home. As said my neighbour has a Volvo S40.

Coincidentally, my uncle had three S40s in a row, and found it quite entertaining in supermarket carparks to see how many cars his fob opened. All three behaved the same way :y

I have managed to press the button with the keys in my pocket. No hands. ;) ;D

As I have posted several times in the past - the Omega does have electrical gremlins which come and go. The stealth unlocking went on for some weeks and then just disappeared - I remember also the alarm going off if I clicked twice on key fob - so just used one press of fob for a few days. Reverted to double fob lock and no problems.

The most odd  items were headlight range - alert kept coming up for no reason - checked out by KW 5 years ago and nothing found - alert stopped about 4 years ago and never returned. Emissions light was on for ages and has not been seen for 2 or 3 months now - and yes bulb is working. Park pilot is only thing unfixable - components all allegedly ok - loom suspected.
