Clay Pigeon shooting
« on: 16 October 2013, 22:39:49 »

Bloody knackered now - tramping around Holland and Holland all day at Ruislip in pouring rain. I don't ever see me taking this up as a regular pastime - I hit quite a lot but doesn't rock my boat. Good social stuff though.

I have done the range at Bisley a couple of times (which is closer to home for me) - only reason I go now and then is that a friend shoots Olympic Trap and was part of GB set up for a while.

I used to do the 'trapping' when I was a kid.  Great fun and they'd let us have a couple of shots each at the end!  :y

I always thought that it was cheating that the experienced guys knew the exact trajectory of the clay, so I'd adjust it now and again for one or two of the more clever ones!!  ;)  I don't think they found it very amusing!!!  ;D

I fully intend to get my FAC and keep up my marksmanship, esp with Bisley around the corner :y

I've done it a few times. But always with a group and used to get a bit bored waiting for my turn

Although, used to be pretty good at it.

This was the best organised I have been on - 6 groups of 4 - 1.5 hours shooting per session with 30 mins between sessions. Competition style flurry at end.

I shoot game and deer/rabbits,

once or twice a year we have an hour or two at the clays, or on a range,

its not the same as the real thing, and the banter on a shoot is the best.

Mate of mine has several licensed guns....he winds his missus up by shooting the crows off his thatched roof (they nick the straw for nests) and leaving them where they fall  ::) ;D
