wont buy again
« on: 18 October 2013, 19:18:44 »

Coopers of Stortford >:( wont be buying from them again. ordered 3cree hand held spot lamp rechargable 2 weeks ago, would have been quicker to buy direct from China. they say up to 28 days for delivery, they mean it, absolute awful service. compared to Torch Direct, Led Lenser p7.2 ordered pm day b4 on doorstep next day :o with standard delivery

Had the same with Towsure ..... they dispatched on the last day day they could within their guidelines. When challenged, they said that I should have paid for their express delivery.
There are plenty of other on line 'shops' available that don't take the p***

How do rate it mate 3800 lumens :o

Not got it yet.....bought it yesterday....marked as dispatched....may get it mon/tues next week...i'll let you know  :y

It arrived on tuesday.....well impressed with the brightness.....however the rechargeable batteries they sent are knackered i reckon.....normally the charger takes 3-4hours to charge them.....1st charge took about 12hours  :o and charges after that take 3-4 hours.....but they only last about 5mins before the torch starts to dim....I have other rechargeable batteries (but of lower capacity) that fit and they last 30-40 mins before dying.

On looking further on ebay ..... theres this torch for example

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3X-CREE-XM-L-T6-LED-3800Lm-Flashlight-Torch-3800Lm-Torch-3-18650-Charger-/300929623578?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Camping_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item4610cda61a

Which is the same torch as the one I bought, but it can take 2 or 3 batteries (mine takes only 2),
but confuses me ..... 2 batteries and the voltage is 7.4v across the bulb, 3 batteries and voltage is 11.1v across the bulb  :-\ is that right?? But does say in the ad voltage input is 8.4v max, so is the torch limiting the voltage to 8.4v when 3 batteries are used  :-\

Confused of Swindon  :-\ ;D

could be wired in parallel so you get same voltage, but longer life?

LED bulbs only run on about 3V each anyway, otherwise they blow.
(sort of - they can be adjusted with resistors, but that spoils the efficiency)

edit:
data sheet here: http://www.cree.com/led-components-and-modules/products/xlamp/discrete-directional/xlamp-xml
says that each LED runs on 3.1V, so I'm guessing that extra batteries DO increase battery life, rather than brightness

Batteries are in series, two or three, but there are 3 leds in this torch.....so roughly 2.4v across each led with 2 batts, 3.7v with 3 batts.....if the voltage isnt limited....maybe just playing the torch will work with 3 batts but reduced life span  :-\

I was reading reviews on Amazon for the CREE bike lights and a couple of people had faulty batteries, so it does seem like a common problem, but they did send them back and get them replaced and they were alright after that. I would suggest you contact the seller on Ebay and arrange that.

Well, that was quick, got a reply to the email about 5 mins after i sent it.
I asked about sending the batteries back for replacement......he replied not to bother he'd send another......not sure what he meant by that?? as there are two batteries.....is he sending another torch or just batteries  :-\ See what turns up i guess  :-\
