I dont think incidents like this are uncommon. Even though the worst ones make the news, many, many children are bullied on a day-to-day basis. The sad thing, in this case and others like it, is the fact that the girl who was being bullied didn't confide in someone. I don't know how other people would react, but I would move heaven and earth to release my child from their misery. I would even move house as a last resort.

I always wonder in cases like this, bullying is a part of every day school. Many people got bullied, I was just one of many, you just deal with it if you are not one of the "cool" kids.

I also struggle with the media's idea of "online bullying" - They quote facebook, twitter, and other sites. It's very simple, you just block people? You can block facebook friends, tweeters ect.

If someone is aggressive to you on another random site, errrr just stop going it it?  ???

I think there is often much more to these stories than we are given.  :(

I honestly just get how anybody can get so wound up by anything somebody says "hiding behind a keyboard"  :(

My lad had a problem "on facebook" with some dickless wonder making accusations about him a couple of years ago.  First he blocked him then went round to his house and offered him out into the street infront of all his family  ;)
He refused and never had a problem again  :y

That's like saying a cricket bat killed someone, so cricket bats should not exist  ::)

Yeah of course, there's lots of cricket bat deaths reported so maybe they should be

What i mean is that the likes of Facebook give the tools for people to abuse others online

They would just use other tools, bullying was around before the internet.

It's a bit like oof then :)

But seriously I've always said to my boy just ignore them don't respond to it and switch it off end of.

I remember I was bullied as a kid(fat little thing I was) until I had enough and stood up for myself to the ring leader, he never picked on me and never even spoke or came near me again :)

You have not got to a post count of 4716 on OOF without seeing some of that on here, sometimes with deliberate provocation, sometimes by accident........... ;) ;)

Just to clarify, that highlighted comment was not aimed at anybody on here even though it does get out of hand now and again  ;)
Even I have banned myself from posting after a few beers in case I fail to engage brain before opening mouth  ;D
More aimed at the people out there who sadly feel the need to end it all because some ................. you know the rest  :)
