Since the dawn of time, everybody has spied on everybody else to a lesser or greater degree, knowledge is power. All nations spy on all other nations, just some a bit more than others. Merkel mock outrage is exactly that as she is no innocent. Her father was allegedly a Stasi officer, who defected from West to East Germany.  :o :o :o :o

In the Western world and in reality over most of the globe, all calls and data are monitored in real time using powerful massively parallel signal processing computers looking for key words and phrases, any calls or data that trigger what they are looking for are then analysed in more detail. I think you will find that all UK telecoms companies have to install such equipment, where this law was passed by the BLiar Government, as part of the war on terrorism.

Long may it continue to catch the terrorists before they have the chance to strike within our midst. :y :y :y :y This is also what makes lone terrorists so dangerous, as they don't leave any communications trails.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

A few well known trigger words and phrases are: Boy, STEMO, Gixer, Mr Opti, Gold, cem, Johnny English, Chris, Zoom, Vamps, Tunnie, TB, Fuse, Hotel, Loo Knee, Taxi, Retards and Egg. So if you are in communication with anybody that regularly uses any of these words, you are probably being very closely watched 24/7 and very actively electronically monitored. ::) ::) ::) ::) :P :P :P :P ;D ;D ;D ;D

You missed tyre thread ;D

The British have been spying on the world since the year dot, why is herr Merkel getting upset the people from Bletchley park were spying on her grandparents 65yearz ago,and they didn't moan then.
also mr Snowdon is a tratior to his country and should be shot, there are people still alive today who have never revealed that they worked at Bletchley park thro fear of arrest.
the spying community worldwide have saved numerous lives,in wartime and piece time and idiots like Snowdon have put lives at risk tbro his own stupidity and selfishness.
we all now that we are being watched etc, information is the biggest commodity in the world today.
There are only two crimes in Britain today that can invoke the death penalty they are piracy and treason.

Because his government changed the law, so piracy and treason no longer carry the death penalty. I wonder why.  ::)

Thing is a lot of European countries can't make too much noise about it as the phrase pot, kettle and black will become appropriate ::)
