Is there something added to modern plaster to get a smooth finish? we are having some plastering done and now some of it is dry I had to have a feel.... ;) ;) it's fantastically smooth - like a baby's bottom.... :y :y :y  far better than I seem to recall new plaster of years ago......... :-\ :-\

Really is down to the plasterer and how he puts a polish on it as he finishes

Some have european polishing floats with rubber edges to get a high smooth finish
