Cooker hood this time.

Lights not bloody working. ::)

Bulbs blew one then the other. New bulbs are different. Same shape, same fitting, same figures on the side, but they are an "Eco halogen" variant. Can't get the old ones. Sigh...

Old bulbs filaments "look" intact but don't show a current with a metre :-\

Is it the new bulbs incompatible or the hood faulty? Hood light button lights up red but light don't come on.

The position of the light fitting is right at the back behind the fan and its a real shister to get off the wall. So getting in there with a meter is almost impossible.... And she wanted to cook tea so it will have to wait until tomorrow now.

Any pointers mean time?

I bought a pair of ordinary cooker hood bulbs in ASDA recently.  :)

Forget the "eco" bit, they are only "eco" because they are rated at a slightly lower wattage than the standard lamp.

Do I take it from your post that the new lamps fail to work when plugged in?

If the lamps are getting their feed from that control unit (which they probably do), my first suspicion would be the controller has failed.

PS

Does the fan still work?

Yes everything works as it should. Fans work on all three speeds and the timer works to turn them off if selected.

Press the lights button and the red light confirms lights selected, same as the fans red lights do. Just the light bulbs don't actually come on.
