When people ask what car i drive and i say proudly an omega v6 ( not mentioning that its the smallest v6 that was fitted in the omega ) they always look at me with a strange look and can't work out why i'm so proud. i must admit the cuople of people i have let drive it soon change there mind once they have driven it. People may laugh at a 10 year old vauxhall but i wouldnt change it for the world except for a newer model.

Vauxhall has not bee considered a luxuary car maker for a long time now nd so the Senator and Omegas were cars that were out of character, as a result i believe they were never taken seriously, however they are really good long distance cruisers....

I know. I used to own a 1992 senator 24v cd auto which very sadly got written off. i once read that audi tried to by the design off of vauxhall because they liked the car so much. wether or not this is true i dont know. but one things for certain if they had they would of had much better credibility and a bigger prive tag

There are a lot of people out there that listen to clarkson too much, he cant stand vx for some reason, and therefore hammers anything with a griffin badge. although he does say that the monaro is the only one to have and says that it is not a vx but a holden so does not count. The omega is along side the senator as the one of the best in my opinion and does not get the credit it deserves.

Agreed. Plus, I think the practicality of the estate is underestimated to those that do not know it, they are simply huge and ideal for a family, even more so if they have a dog.

Clarkson's ways are changing a little, he likes the VX220 and was pleasantly surprised at the new astra! He's also said he likes the omega also!

I wonder how many Omega's they actually sold? Didn't think they sold that many really, most of our cars will have been 20 grand plus when new, can't be that crap!?! People are just uneducated.

It's a pity though that the Omega isn't quite as big as the Senator was, and that Vauxhall tried to replace two cars - Senator & Carlton - with just the one.

Omega wasn't a luxury car anywhere in Europe. First because it was on the market too early and there were a lot of complaints. They were improving it for many years, but still people put a bad name on it. In 98 there was a lifting but the odd thing is that Omega was changed at the end of 99 and dropped at 2002.
Anyway - I tried BMW, Audi, VW and other cars and must say that Omega is the most comfortable. Suspension is great. Car itself is very "moody" and car be painful to maintain.

When I got mine the Brother-in-Law came with me. He is always laughing that I buy Vauxhall's and keeps trying to lure me onto other brands. I like them because they are generally quite cheap and easy to fix!!

Anyway... On the drive back he started eating his words!! He used to be a car salesman and has driven all sorts, as have I, but we both agreed that it was by far the best car of it's era for comfort etc. and rivalled many modern cars too. On top of that it's an all singing, all dancing Elite with the full Christmas Tree spec!!

Lots of toys to play with!!!!  

At the end of the day, as long as you love it, it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks!!!
