Adjustable width seats with wider people will pay more than thinner people. I can just picture the advertisement now:

What is there not to like about this if you live in Michael O'Deary's world of extracting every last bit of revenue from your mugs customers.

On the tube in London recently, I saw a very fat large boned lady get on huffing and puffing. She looked around and there were loads of empty seats. You could see her work out that she would not fit any of them, so she just stood. I have to say that I did feel a bit sorry for her. Seats on the tube are not exactly generous.
