Phaeton clipped on M6
« on: 19 November 2013, 21:00:39 »

....by someone undertaking who misjudged space to get away with dodgy manoeuvre. Happened at high speed and Phaeton held road well, seems to be surprising little damage but some paint work needed. No-one hurt thankfully but Mrs quite shaken. Sainsbury Bank insurance so far brilliant in all respects.

Glad no one was hurt, that's the most important thing :y

I was in outside lane and he was behind...he decided to undertake on lane 1 to get past van in lane 2 and come out in front of a few cars in lane 3. When he realised no space just cut across into lane 3 - no signal even.

I hope you imparted this information to the relevant people or, at least, punched him.

Nobody else stopped and so no independent witnesses...no point in spending time arguing on hard shoulder in busy lorry traffic which is so dangerous.

Thanks Cem cannot believe no dents just scratching. It all happened so quick at over 70 mph, shunted me slightly towards barrier but no idea what I did but corrected it. Car went into neutral and not sure why or if I moved gear stick. It drove fine for the remainder of 130 miles.

I'm afraid I take a very dim view of someone trying to kill my family.

if paint is not scratched until bare metal its better you let it repaired in spring or when temperatures rise and outside not wet or snowy.. :-\

Jesus. That could have been so much worse. I'm wound up just thinking about it. Keep your eye on your missus.

Yes she was shaking like mad and we had to stop at Stafford Services for a while.

I was calm but still do not know how I reacted automatically to avoid the central reservation, whether it was the abs, the 4 wheel drive or what ever other gadgets we have these days, maybe even just the weight of the car. The other car was a new Nissan Pathfinder.

Sorry to hear of this. Lovely car the Phaeton.

It might be worth calling the police, just to see if anyone made themselves known as a witness. People tend not to stop on motorways.
