Well, car is with my garage right now, so we'll see. I don't do my own work and servicing

no dipstick so can't check. They gave me the name of an autobox specialist company not far away.

Specialist not needed, easy procedure

I'll check the level and codes FOC :y

Thanks for that I may well take you up on it, I'll need to PM to get some idea of where you are. However nothing will happen now for a couple of days as I need to go up North, but I'll be nicking the Mrs Old Volvo 940 for that  ;)

Thats not too far at all. I'll be in touch, things are busy with me right now, so it won't be too soon.

Since this came up I've been driving SWMBOs 17 year old Volvo 940 Est 2.3 Auto. It just goes, no dramas, no problems, nothing, maybe I should get one  ;D INSTEAD of an Omega  ::)

That would be quite nice  :y I haven't had time to sort this autobox thing out yet so still driving the Mrs 940 Tank. Went over to France on a booze cruise last weekend, all over the place for work, all no problems. There is one big problem, SWMBO is getting pissed off at not having a car   :o

Well, quite some weeks down the road, now buying a house, selling mine, mother almost died, a whole pile of other stuff, and all the time clocking up some serious miles on Mrs Volvo 940.

Time to get this sorted . . . . . James, check PM

Taken to nearby auotobox specialist that my garage recommended.

See what happens, I'm a bit nervous about what the bill will be like  ???, but this needs to get sorted.

To be continued . . . . . .

Sorted !

My normal garage suggested these people . . .

http://www.stephensengineering.co.uk/

Did the job. Seems the box was ok, serviced, ATF changed, and they found a couple of leaking pipes or something. Not been on a long drive yet, but all seems ok. Acceptable bill !

One interesting thing, they asked if they could buy the car ! . . . or if in the future I decided to sell it to call them first. One of the guys there just loved it.  ::)

So, I've got my car back. Just in time, the Mrs Volvo 940 Est has a leaking head gasket, water to outside. So retirement looms for it . . . .  :'(

DIY, very simple, if oily ::), cost:- the price of the ATF plus paraffin to clean the filter. :y

Not for me. I do not do anything myself. No tools, no skills, no time, and no inclination  ::)
