best bet is to look at what the banks offer, HSBC have offers on as do the other banks, you need to see what meets your needs and is low too free charges

as I said, not just about the costs - santander is the lowest price, and according to every review and personal testimony from friends - they're absolutely useless!

Hence the reason I asked for opinions on customer service.
At the moment, I'm biased towards Barclays, although the Natwest accounts look OK - and I've banked with them before, and found them OK

As said look around - I had a business a/c with Barclays (as a Limited Co), as well as a Merchant a/c also with Barclays - had no major issues with them.

ive got one with santandare or what ever its called now was the alliance when I took it out and its free for everything as long as you pay in a 1000 pounds a month. don't earn a 1000 pounds?do what I do take the money out and but it back in 5 mins later do 250  once a week and job done.can only pay in at the post office not the branch.

I've had a business acc with Hsbc for about 10 years now,no complaints with them to date :y

My company uses Cater Allen.  No charges, no fees and the used ot pay interest - no longer.

They are a business only bank with no overdrafts allowed and no overdraft charges.

So they don't charge for overdrafts you can't have? Seems fair.
