...in Argentina, people rioting and looting all the shops. The police have really cracked down in Kiev, battering protestors, two French soldiers have been killed in CAR whilst trying to disarm militants.

I'll put the news on and have a look. Oh yeah, Mandela is dead isn't he? Fickin move on, I'm sick to death with it.

Yes I agree Steve............you would think God has died!

A great man yes, but we in the UK do not need days and days of the same old rhetoric and politicians fighting hard to be in the queue to be seen to be praising Mandela ::) ::) ::) ::) :)

Evan Davis on the Beeb at the weekend actually said he could be " compared with Jesus Christ, in the pantheon of virtue". I kid you not. Head of BBC news defended the amount of coverage today by saying "Mandela was the most significant world statesman of the last 100 years".
Is he sure ? !!  :o
I'm not religious but, if I was, I wouldn't be happy with that.

When actually we all know the greatest statesman in the last 100 years that saved the free world is of course Winston Churchill, different order of magnitude here me thinks. Most other British politicians were keen to and would have done a deal with Hitler after Dunkerque. Once Hitler was ready he would then have neutralised or swallowed us up before attacking Russia so he controlled virtually all of mainland Europe.

US Fracking and Saudi Arabia defending its market share = The good news of an oil glut, lower and lower prices for us and squeaky bum time for Putin!

Absolutely correct! :y :y :y :y :y :y

I would also make the point that Mandela undoubtedly freed the population from the evils of apartheid without the threatened bloody revolution.  However, I have read all so often that he and the ANC FAILED to make the changes to basic living conditions for tens of thousands of blacks, who continue to now live in terrible poverty.  Apart from a few careful comments made by black interviewees on TV, and comments from ANC rivals, this fact has been rather pushed to the back burner.  Now Mandela has gone, will we see the dreadful sight of the second revolutionary wave that will be less dignified and even very violent?  Observations from those who know are very welcome................!! :y :y
