I'm sure James May had one of those or something similar in the $1000 usa challenge.

I've to be careful with both the Omega & my R Class in one of our multi-storey car parks ....... you'd have no chance at all in the Caddy.

There used to be one of these Caddys knocking about around our way. The owner of a local garage used to be besotted with all cars American ..... you could eat your tea from the floor in his garage if you wanted to - it was immaculate!  :y

Quite tidy. I'd be tempted if it wasn't completely at the opposite end of the automotive spectrum to any car I'd actually want to drive. ;D

8.2 litres, all right, but right from the middle of the emissions strangling period. IIRC they were only about 190 BHP. :o

The one I had didn't hang around in a straight line but was really crap on handling.  ;)

Yep, just looking at it suggests the handling is going to be a bit "nautical". ;D

A few years back, we started to put a 472 Cad into a Monte Carlo for some cheap fun at the track. I paid £300 for the car; legal, drivable but with a bad leak from the trans. The complete engine and gearbox were another £250, plus the Rover engine and box that we removed. An afternoons work saw it mounted in the car, and we were well into the plumbing when we lost the storage space and had to sell it.

It's a proper big-block engine so ignore the 190hp rating, and look at the torque figure. That's 380lbft at 2000rpm! An early high-compression 500 makes over 500lbft as standard. And as long as you keep the revs down(which isn't difficult as valve float sets in at 4000rpm), the thing is unbreakable. It's readily tunable too; cam, inlet and some valve train work make equally impressive power increases

190 BHP is still 190 BHP, though, and that's not much for a barge like that. ;)

The 502 chevys that we have in the gliding winches are a whole lot better - about 450 BHP, IIRC, on a mixer LPG setup!
