Indeed, it is a national problem - disgrace - that there is a lack of resource for traffic units just when more and more checks are expected to be done by them in addition to their usual traffic collision investigation capability and general law enforcement.  This is made worse by the drawing off of traffic units to support the reduced ranks of local police when incidents demand! ::) ::) ::) >:( >:(

A very dear friend lost his wife and youngest child, his best friend's wife and only child, to a drunk driver failing to stop at a junction. My friend's mother died shortly afterwards from stress induced heart attack. Neither man ever fully recovered, and my friend shot himself 20 years later.

All for the lack of common sense, this ruins so many lives.  >:( >:( >:(

Its so shocking that still after all the tragic incidents that have happened over the years people STILL drink & drive  >:( >:( >:( It really infuriates me when I have to go pick up the pieces and deliver the bad news.

Early in my career I had to go tell someone that their loved one had been innocently involved in a RTC. It was the 22nd December the house was like Santas grotto. When the female answered the door she had one little one in her arms and one running around on the floor, excited cause they thought it was daddy arriving home. What do you say?????????????

Well that was an interesting set of late shifts!!!

6 drink drivers

1 RTC who's female drink driver (I say that in the loosest terms) Was sooooooo Pished I had to -

a) help her out of the car she crashed
b) literally carry her to my car because she could not walk / stand
c) repeat myself at least half a dozen times to be understood (and no it wasn't because of my broad Lancs accent  ;D )
d) she couldn't see very well so when I handed her the breath machine it took her all the time to focus on the tube let alone put it in her mouth.

Any guesses on what she blew  ??? ??? ???
