Its so shocking that still after all the tragic incidents that have happened over the years people STILL drink & drive  >:( >:( >:( It really infuriates me when I have to go pick up the pieces and deliver the bad news.

Early in my career I had to go tell someone that their loved one had been innocently involved in a RTC. It was the 22nd December the house was like Santas grotto. When the female answered the door she had one little one in her arms and one running around on the floor, excited cause they thought it was daddy arriving home. What do you say?????????????

That is certainly the worst part of a coppers job :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

not only plod that delivers bad news....done a fair few myself :( :(

Well that was an interesting set of late shifts!!!

6 drink drivers

1 RTC who's female drink driver (I say that in the loosest terms) Was sooooooo Pished I had to -

a) help her out of the car she crashed
b) literally carry her to my car because she could not walk / stand
c) repeat myself at least half a dozen times to be understood (and no it wasn't because of my broad Lancs accent  ;D )
d) she couldn't see very well so when I handed her the breath machine it took her all the time to focus on the tube let alone put it in her mouth.

Any guesses on what she blew  ??? ??? ???

It all depends on how people react to alcohol, the last time I was in that kind of state was VE day in 1994 when I consumed 2 (litre) bottles of Smirnoff's finest.
I did manage to walk to the car when we left the pub, however my vision was so screwed that I saw 3 identical cars side by side in front of me at the first set of lights we pulled up at.
I started upchucking out of the window by the time we were on the A316 and I did end up being carried to bed where I stayed for 3 days with a major headache and constantly vomiting.

In the case of your customer, if she was an average size then I'll stab a guess at around the 140 mark.

That's of breath? and where the limit is 35 milli per something?  :o :o :o Bloody hell. No wonder you had to carry her!!  Presumably she'd be charged the following day when she was a little more sober

What kind of age was she?

Didn't think you could be charged unless capable of understanding the charge :-\ not sure where that stands with the initial arrest though...

198 must be a record though :o presumably prison time will follow shortly :-\

I doubt 198 is a record, but it's certainly up there.

She was taken to custody, seen by medical staff then some hour & half later blew 132 on the evidential machine. Then bedded down on constant obs. In the am (well just after mid-day) she was re-tested & when deemed 'fit' charged.

So does a person get sent up on the original reading or the secondary one :-\

Would have been a better outcome. ;)

What happens is that you provide an initial roadside breath test, if you fail that one you are arrested taken to custard, where you have to provide 2 'evidential' tests. The lower of the two is used and if still over you will be bedded down until fit to be charged.
