true, prices have gone up some what. i bought a load of 4x4x 8` oak treated posts about 6 years ago, they cost a bloomin fortune tbh. panels are silly money now for what they are really.

I found that 100x100x5mm square tubing works out cheaper than wooden fence posts - luckily I have several scrap dealers and JamesDunkerley  within a couple of miles.
Last one I bought was actually 150mmx150mmx8mm, 8ft long - for a tenner - to replace a very exposed (to wind and dickheads) corner post. filled it full of concrete after installing.

A joyrider rammed into it one night  ;D ;D ;D

He was carried into ambulance  ;D
Car was totalled - 1990ish Astra estate, headlights had gone past the post - one either side.
Needed some new hammerite on the post, and the fence panel was a write-off  ::)
