What are they like to live with, what sort of problems do they have? I had a 2000 2.5td auto which was nice but crap on fuel. They seem quite cheap around £1000 for an 02+

Bit vibey. Power is all torque low down, so it would destroy an Auto. Which means your stuck with the Edwardian signal box clutch and gear lever of the omega manual. Don't see too many posts on here about them, but they are less common, I think its fair to say...?

600 miles range is always nice, but the lift pump(s?) are expensive to replace. More than the car is worth in some cases. Arguably under powered for a car this size.

It's fair to say that you're not going to break any land speed records but not  everyone wants or likes autos or thirsty petrols. You get all the comforts with more economy. I've used mine to and from work , 4 miles each way, and on a 150 mile motorway trip (cruises lovely at 80 - 90 mph )and can't fault it. Maybe the black leather heated memory seats , dual climate control etc. help

Mine was chauffeur driven so well looked after I guess.

I also have a Astra 1.9 CDTI DESIGN 120 estate (wife's car ) little flying machine that one even with 160k on the clock, but a car of a different time and price

Wasn't it said somewhere that the fuel tank needs to be fairly full all the time so as not to overheat the pump .. maybe Twiglet said so ? Running the diesel tank low ruins the pump

I know a friend of mine has run his for about 80k now and has only had to;

1) Bypass the diesel pre-heater in the wing (it sprang a coolant leak)
2) Replace the fuel filter when it got clogged to the point of imploding and completely stopping fuel flow
3) Track rods on the front end
4) Two oil changes
5) A set of tyres
6) A set of brake pads
7) Rear shocks and possibly springs

Not bad in 80k (a large part of that run on waste engine oil, cheap veg oil, bad wine, white spirit, candela oil.. vodka) and still returning 6-700 miles to a tank on a run.

Having driven it it's not exactly going to set the world on fire and the gear change is vague at best but it's inoffensive and gets the job done.

I still toy with the idea of replacing or supplementing the 3.2 with one; but the only Elite I've seen for sale is up in Newcastle and that's a looong drive for a diseasel!

1 is the only diesel specific item, the rest can be treated as standard Omega (or any other car for that matter) service consumables

Don't the dti's suffer from diesel pump problems as a few of these engines in vectras/saabs are around for spares/repairs. Are they tunable?
Only thing which i noticed is the tax is quite high @ £260 p/a whereas when i had a vectra with the same engine was around £170 ish

how do they remap/chip??
