Stopped by police
« on: 01 January 2014, 14:19:46 »

My car was showing as no insurance? They put the "follow me" sign on and pulled me over. Very nice sergeant. Courteous and explained everything clearly. My insurance was valid. I also did a road side breath test and despite 2 pints last night I blew 0. He had already stopped 2 cars for driving under the influence and thanked me for being respectful regarding my small drinking amount last night knowing I was driving this morning.

Is it a standard policy? Or are you on a traders setup? Something must have triggered APNR, unless it read yours incorrectly

The insurance database is far from reliable.

By and large I've no problem being pulled over for a 'routine check' though aren't they supposed to have reason for puling you over these days?  :-\ It did get to be a PITA though when I was pulled over every week end at least once because I was a young lad in a MKIII Cortina  ::) The young bit isn't a problem nowadays though  ;D ;D ;D

The wife was pulled over once for apparently not having insurance on the ANPR, which was quickly proven to be wrong after a call to the insurance company. They then proceeded to try and argue that her German licence was invalid as she had been here more than a year.  They didn't even apologise after I had pointed out all the laws in place which proved their claims to be rubbish.  I considered some action over the data protection act but I was getting ready for a trip to the sandbox and thus didn't have time.

That used to happen to me, late nights in my MKII escort. Got that sick of it that one night spent a couple of hours going round and collected about 10 "producers". Following day handed them into "sarge" on desk, one by one. When asked why i didn't give them all at once said I didnt get them all at once. Didnt get pulled up in that car again  ;D ;D ;D.

Hey, hum what you could get away with  ::)

I got rid of my Astra GTE in the early 90s, partly as I was always in Aylesbury cop shop doing "show-ers", usually 2 or 3 times a week (not always due to pulls in the Astra, mind ;D).
