It is all perfectly natural, and whilst girls grow up faster due to physical and psychological changes from the age of at LEAST 10 years (some girls are now starting their periods from 8years of age!!) the boys, thank God, stay as children for longer. The girls start to "mother" the cutest boys, but then click on to the fact that the most outspoken, forward, maybe the "roughest" and hardest boy in the class is more appealing and will give them more excitement and protection from others. He may also represent "the catch" of the class within female circles. These boys are also emerging first from being "mothers" boys, whom are frightened of the girls, and therefore represent maturity. This from a hormonal point of view is most appealing to the young women, and represents a potentially great future.
Of course the realities of life start to make their presence felt for the girls/young woman as maturity and experience takes some form of control, and the wilder boys can seem too much of a danger and a real risk to their future happiness, and for most girls "the thinking" boys become far more attractive - unless of course the parents interfere and "demand" the girl does not see the "wild boy" anymore. Then the girl WILL stay with that boy!!
Of course once the young woman really becomes mature, at the age of about 21 / 23, she will understand that all boys / men are bastards!!
