Going for polybush
« on: 06 January 2014, 20:31:05 »

Hi guys, I replaced front wishbone arms together with drop links just two months ago  and steering became sh...y as it was before  >:(
Could you please paste me a link on here to a full set of poly ones? Front poly bushes and ARB bushes too.
I've found a few sellers but would really like to buy it from known good one.
And I'm going to replace those myself....bloody incompetent garages
 >:(
Thanks in advance, Stan

I bought both wishbone and ARB bushes. I doubt I'd bother with the anti-roll bar ones again. They don't locate the suspension(unlike a Ford, where they are essential), and are out of the way so don't get damaged. Mine were in good condition, and didn't need to be replaced. Plus, the poly ones are much more expensive than new rubber ones.

Yes they are pricey but I'd like to give it a try. See after changing front arms and drop links there was still  clunking sound coming out of there so I suspect ARB bushes are faulty for it.

They crop up on Ebay as a set at around £72-75, pays to rummage, but some cheaper sellers charge postage, whilst some more expensive don't, so read the small print as it were :y

Re poly arb's...

I had a set of these on the shelf, and I've had to park my car partly in the drive for some time. This means one sides front suspension was compressed, the other extended.

I also had problems with a god awfull floating feeling from the front end on some road surfaces at the start of most journeys. To the point I turned round, headed for home, jacked the front of the car and searched for suspension faults. None found.

After some time :-[ I decided to fit the poly arb's. My theory being that the twisted roll bar caused by the parking position, was compressing the rubber arb's which took some time to recover.

Anyway, once fitted the floating sensation has vanished.

I do agree though that, as Kev would say, we're entering a world of diminishing returns fitting further oe replacement poly, once the front wishbone poly bush has been fitted.

The gains are minimal. But there is some improvement to be had, although I can't say I've noticed any less body roll. The extra control seems to come in an almost level body position.

As said, there was zero signs of wear on the old rubber bushes, after 107k in my case.

Speaking about that Chris, was there ever a one single clunk or thump to hear when you moved the car after being parked over the night or so? I'm getting this on my omega every time it moves from standing for a while. But it wasn't happening two or three days after arms were replaced.

Sounds like the bushes have failed early from your first post, so it could be those twisting in the arm. It really needs the rearward bushes checking before going any further.
