Go for it Tunnie, It will be a life experience  :y and IMO theres never been a better time to wave bye bye to blighty, bordering on recession, nanny state, immigration, property market, cost of motoring, etc, etc, etc, but remember it's not a one way street so if it does not work out you can always come back. Good luck with whatever decision you make :y

True, but he's going to the wrong place to escape, if that's the intention. "out of the frying pan, into the fire" comes to mind.

well today, i spoke to my boss.

He said he had no objection to me applying, and it would be a shame to see me go!! (ahhh made me feel all warm and fuzzy)

He forwared me to the HR lady, as he did not know the process for applying for internal positions. Company was only bought 1 month ago.

Spoke with her, she said get your CV updated and a covering letter, and we can apply tommorow!  :D  :o

Thanks for the link martin, but i won't be shipping my car out there.

A 4 pot 2 tone car in US? with European suspension settings!? no way!

I need someing soft, i have driven many times in the states and seen the appauling roads they have, i would not want to inflict the damage on my 2.2.

Word is there is relocation packages on offer, with legal expenses paid.

Currently re-bashing my CV, not updated it since i joined 11 months ago.

I'm not sure what you mean about the roads over there, it's like driving on the moon around here.  Still no point taking a car over.  Stuff is way cheaper over there, although a price premium in CA.

Try to get living expenses and UK holiday levels.  Don't be shy about asking for full wages plus living expenses.  Shockingly expensive over there, and obscene commute times.

Trains may have been invented here, but public transport is a foreign concept!

If i got my UK package, but in $$ i would be happy!

Found some nice apartments 10 miles from the 'new' office, well in my price range.

Sounds good, and you don't need to worry about savings yet, so go for it!

(You do seem to pick the most expensive place though!)

The plan was NY, but since we have been bought we are concentrating on Europe now, leaving US to our US buyers!

Just found this apartment block:

http://www.move.com/apartments/listing/C473221

It has the same ZIP code as our USA HQ!! I could walk to work!  :o :o :D :D

And no council rates.  :y

Zip codes do cover a larger area over there though  . . .
