Had a bump today
« on: 10 January 2014, 19:56:49 »

my omega rear bumper came into contact with another cars bumper today in marks & spencers car park.

The damage to the other car is no dents but more a scuff where our bumpers rubbed together.

I am the one at fault, So i said to the woman get a price for the paint job and tell me the price and i will sort it out.

No she replied my husband wont do it like that,We like to do it through the insurance.

I gave her my name address etc and we said goodbye.

But the downside of this is i have 11 years no claims.(un-protected)

You can imagine the damage to the other car on looking at mine.

Pop round there later, about 2 am with some T cut and polish :y when they get the car assessed, there won't be a mark on it :-X

Seriously though, did you take pictures of their damage? Worth a chat with the husband? Assume they live relatively local to you :-\

Pop round with your policy so he knows your insured and have a polite word.
Explain that even though its your fault and any claim will come of your policy, BOTH of you will suffer when it comes to renewal time so suggest you both take his car round to a local decent paint shop and let them sort it out with you picking up the bill  ;)

He would be a fool not to agree  ;)

Had a word with him tonight on phone, Seemed well into insurance procedure, Said it be best if he goes through his insurance, who will then go through mine,Who will then give me a option to pay the bill.

Did you get a picture or two of their car/damage? Just in case it has an unfortunate conversation with a gatepost/wall/fence before an assessor sees it :-\

Well this is how it ended.. ;D ;D He took it to a body shop and they told him £150

He came around here and i handed him £150 and he signed a letter thingy the wife drafted up..

two hours later he txt me to say he got a better price of £130 from chips away (mentioned above) And that he is going to nip around to refund me £20

Told him to keep it for his running around, but he wont have that...

Sorted well happy   :y :y

£130 is the standard price from chips away for one panel. I've had a very small scrape and quite a big scuff, both £130.
