Well this is how it ended.. ;D ;D He took it to a body shop and they told him £150

He came around here and i handed him £150 and he signed a letter thingy the wife drafted up..

two hours later he txt me to say he got a better price of £130 from chips away (mentioned above) And that he is going to nip around to refund me £20

Told him to keep it for his running around, but he wont have that...

Sorted well happy   :y :y
£130 is the standard price from chips away for one panel. I've had a very small scrape and quite a big scuff, both £130.

That's twice as much as your car is worth Steve  ;D
How very dare you! Why aren't you a pikey any more?

A guy ran into my son's Merc. Son thought damage wasn't too bad - took it to body shop but because of Mercedes parts prices estimate was £1700 with only a small charge for labour. Guy paid cash £1700 to the garage in advance.

He had insurance as well so no idea what was going on there.

Glad to hear it worked out OK.

My opinion insurance is a total rip-off anyway.  My protected no claims probably isn't worht the bother at all.  Back a couple of years ago, some low life walked into the road in fornt of me doing on of those heel-dragging walks just to p me off.  I was going slowly anyway so to try to have his desired effect the thing decided then to walk down the road until arriving at his car. sadly for him still no effect. finally he opened his door into the side of my car as I passed!  Insurance agreed not my fault and after an argument about why I should WRITE OFF my mint Omega for his neglegence they sorted it out.  When I went to get reinsured they had recorded the claim as bing against me!!!!  When that was sorted they wanted to drastically increase the premium.  Where does protection of NCD come in to that?  They weren't able to give any answer...
Always best to keep away from claims I'd say as anything they pay you'll return for years to come despite protected NCD! :(

You are still getting your NCD, its just your risk is much higher (as you've had a claim). Imagine how much you'd get stung if you had lost 2yrs NCD as well ;)

That sounds wrong if you had paid the extra for the protection

NCD gives a discount off the premium, no more, no less.

The following figures are EXAMPLES only, I have no idea of the present figures applied by insurance companies.

Lets say your NCD entitles you to 40% discount, when your "risk" is assessed your premium could be set at £400, so you pay £240  (£400- 40%)

You have an accident, your "risk" increases, so your new premium is £500.

If you had lost your NCD you would pay £500

If your NCD was "protected" you still get 40% discount so you now pay £300  (£500-40%)

So, your "protected" NCD has "saved" you £200, even though your actual premium has risen £60.

What annoys me is that simply because someone hits me when stationary, MY risk is seen to have increased !!

or the latest stupidity, that the risk of the clit being in an accident has increased because it is a cat D car .... how can that change the risk of an accident ???
