First car accident, a crappy Renault. Drove round a corner to a lorry starting to reverse across the road, hit the back wheel hard. no one watching and lorry drivers boyfriend said I was speeding (50 in a 60)

Police not interested self-abuser went to bed afterwards and I had total loss TPFT as they would not assign blame.

I had to wake up self-abuser to get more details.

This was the event that made me lose ALL FAITH in Police in that area, it was already weak at the time*, one small reason I moved away.

* Nearly causing a head on with a lorry on a blind bend, I bollocked that copper. Ineffectual against burgularies in the area and prosecuting a friend for speeding simply because he was on a bike being overtaken by lots of cars.

I am NOT anti Police, never had any issues elsewhere just where I grew up.

And the most recent, BMW insurance admitted blame, time to screw them for Omegacide.

I Was going along a country road doing about 40mph, A car had stopped at the junction on the right giving way to traffic on the road i was on.
just when i got near the junction the woman pulled out,
my J reg escort van went straight into the two nearside doors from 40mph to 0mph.
In the back of the escort i had a windscreen (pole rack)And was carrying three screens,
when i hit the car the screens shot forward and all got smashed and went straight into the front screen on the van.
Both vehicles were right offs,
And after that day i never carried screens like that again.
And That is one accident i wont forget  :y

Driving my last Senator in Norfolk when a guy in a Golf turned right straight across the front of us,I'd got about 15 feet to try and stop the Senny from just under 50mph before I hit him.Needless to say I didn't quite make it and basically T-boned him punched the Golf through someones front garden hedge[it turned upside down in the process]and the Senny finished half way through the hole in the hedge that the Golf made.Senator radiator was smashed and bent all over the front of the engine. The fire brigade cut the roof off to get the dragonlady out of the passenger seat-but that was only because the hedge was in the way of the door opening. The way she was gasping for breath after the impact I thought she was going to have another heart attack fortunately she was just winded.Worst injury was to passenger in Golf who I heard had suffered a broken hip.Golf driver admitted liability straight away.I had to blow breathalyser three times, first time officer said I hadn't blown hard enough, second time he said that it might work better if he actually turned it on!!!,third time and all clear as I knew it would be as I don't drink.

Slight thread drift this, as it's really about the worst accident a friend of mine nearly had.  ;)

He was driving a big rigid truck through the night across Botswana, where the roads are long and straight and it's just empty bush for miles and miles.   So he's probably driving at about 60 - 70 mph at around 3 -4.00 am and likely to be on 'autopilot' when all of a sudden a sodding great herd of elephants appears in his headlights!!!  :o :o :o

He said that without thinking he swerved off into the bush, which luckily was quite flat and managed to keep the truck on all fours, whilst crashing through the trees and just about steered around the elephants and back onto the road!!  8)

He said he was so shook up that he stopped and got out, sat down on the road and had a fag to calm down.  The only sounds were the night sounds of the bush, the ticking of a cooling engine and a frightened herd of elephants trumpeting off into the bush!!!  :D  ;D

I think my most expensive accident was about 15 years ago
Driving a 35k Merc (3 months old) one morning on wet couintry road.....i was fiddling with the stereo and didnt notice until too late that a 6 month old 3 series bmw convertabile had stopped in the road to turn right.....I thought i was doing well braking wise (thinking im gonna stop in time!) Then the merc decided i wasnt braking hard enough (it had brake assist on it) and the brake pedal just sunk to the floor....and the merc went for a slide on the wet road (dont ask why the abs didnt cut in, maybe it did.....couldnt tell as the brake pedal was on the floor

Result was wacking the bmw so hard up the arris......that its antil roll bars fired off....straight thro the rag top  ;D

Women passenger of bmw went mental at me.....driver calmed her down.....

Interestingly the bmw had a private plate on it.....making it look like a female name.....we exchanged details, but i didnt have my insurance details with me....i never heard from them, nor did my insurance company....hmmm male driver not insured to be driving the bmw??  :-\

My insurance comp....coughed up £8.5k for the repair plus a rental car for me for 3 weeks (got the piss taken out of me by mates for the rental car.....fiat cinquecento  ;D )

Mercs from that era, and even now, are known to have such poor chassis that they filled the cars with electronics to try to overcome the deficiencies, often with even worse results.

Yep, and that prowess reached its' peak in their '99 Le Mans entry, which I witnessed. ::)

I agree Vamps. I can see the headlines now... ''Another OOFer causes Motorway carnage''  ;D

I wrote my first car off (2000 W Reg.) Astra. Tried to turn whilst on a winding slip road up to the A43. Turned wheel and car carried on straight. Horrible thing under steer  :'( 40mph straight in to a tree. I'll never forget that airbag smell  :o :o :o only injury was getting a smack in the face from the rear-view mirror  ::)

First person to stop... copper on a bike. He was really good with a shaken up teenager  :y
