My brother has managed to spill oil on the carpet of his motor, over 1/2 litre, been mopped up best we can but needs proper cleaning ... Removing carpets is probably not viable so needs to be done in situ ... internet research seems to indicate that diluted non-caustic TFR (Traffic Film Remover) might be the best option......

1. Does anyone agree/disagree strongly with this approach, or offer other ideas ??

2. There seems to be a few hundred different TFRs out there .. anyone any opinions on the best/cheapest/most cost effective ???

3. Any opinions on the most effective dilution rate for cleaning up oil soaked car carpets ??

Any ideas gratefully accepted :)

Do you know any car valet people. I'm sure they'd have a product that they use.

Good luck with it Nige. We spilled a bottle of cooking oil on the caravan's carpet. It's been a bugger to get out. Tried various carpet & general cleaners with limited results.  :(

Many moons ago when we used to do such things it was TFR diluted 4:1 and then lots  of flushing throguh with the aqua vac, repeated a few times.

And when I say lots of flushing with the aqua vac, your talking a tank full of water on an industrial Karcher each time!
