i had 3, morning, evening and sundays, and the, like Loo Knee i used to wash cars n a saturday and sunday....

I was loaded, i was easily netting £50 a week at 14......easy money as far as i was concerned, all my mates were broke so i would lend them money, and the ones i didn't like so much i would charge interest  ;D

was gutted when i was 16 and started on a YTS scheme on £27.50 a week, a bloody pay cut and more hours, now that was slave labour  >:(

I had paper rounds as a kid, for a while I was a Butchers boy, one of those black bikes with a little wheel at the front and a basket on it, I was 12. Used to get paid £1.0.0. and make about 7/6 in tips, then we moved, back to paper rounds, only paid 12/6 so used to do sunday mornings as well for an extra 5/-
Happy days. ;D ;D ;D
Don't even talk about kids today working, or not, too overprotected and expect to get everything for nothing :(

Used to deliver prescriptions for the local chemist to the old 'uns that could not get in to uplift them.

Imagine the chaos of a 14 year old lad these days getting to grips with some of the fantastical concoctions of sleeping tabs and assorted amphets etc that are on the go with the street knowledge that now abounds...  Don't think it happens now, somehow....

Yep, had a morning and an evening paper round.

Also used to bottle up and do odd jobs at the local Hotel followed later by glass collecting in an evening. Also used to decorate the rooms during the holiday periods.

It was good to have cash and save up to buy things, taught you the value of money.

I never had a paper round, but worked in the local supermarket 2 evenings a week (late night opening) plus Saturdays from the age of 14.
