Home Cinema
« on: 25 January 2014, 21:29:46 »

Bought a new home cinema amp and it sounds great.

Been watching wolf of wall street, gravity, captain phillips, lone survivor etc and it sounds great.

Anyone else use home cinema sound systems?

Expensive is difficult to decide really. It took me almost a year to save for my unit, which for me is expensive. Cost me 300 pounds, but to others is probably loose change.

Saving up for maintenance parts for my car is a mountain and a half for me to climb!!

I have an Arcam AV9 (decoder & processor) and Arcam P7 (amplifier) - they'd have been about £5k each, new.. I definitely didn't buy them new! ;D Along with a big set of Monitor Audio floor standing speakers.

They do sound a lot better than my old Harman Kardon AV amp & Kef speakers when cranked up, but they're less suited to general viewing, I think. The HK & Kefs work at low volume whereas these really need driving hard to get the best out of them. Good job it's a detached house, really!

Gravity? Captain Philips? Ooh you are naughty. ;)

Sony Amp. 5.1 DD surround set up with Eltax speakers and sub. Got to have the surround sound element IMO. Adds a whole new dimension to movies.

4k tv next. So a while yet. ;D

I've got the older version of this:

http://www.orbitsound.com/product.asp?id=7

I did not want the fuss of wires going everywhere, just enough kick to lift computer games and good films.

Looks good. How does it  sound?

I've got lots of meters of speaker cable around the living which cost much more that the amp! ;D

Does anyone use a 7.1 system?
