Discovery Buyer - VERY Wound up :(
« on: 05 June 2008, 16:45:30 »

Last night, had a long chat on the phone with the guy buying the Disco.

He is in South Wales, Car was in Cheltenham. He said he would definately have it, and said if I could bring it to Cardiff tonight, he would collect it from Maria's and cover the additional insurance and fuel costs on top of the sale price.

I've arrived in Cardiff with Disco in hand this afternoon... only to find that I've been left a message, saying the muppet is unable to get insurance on the Disco and therefore can't buy it.

So, it's cost me £40 to bring it here, £14 in insurance, AND wasted my listing fees and final value fees.

So far I've now spent £110 trying to sell this for under a grand.

I would genuinely let it go to the first person to shove £799 in front of me just so I don't have the hassle of selling it !!!

I may if I had the space - the biggest problem really is my time, because I've got some new commitments that mean I can't really spend all my time stripping cars :(

Also - it seems criminal to break up a perfect car with nearly full MOT :(

Its worth more than that James and you know it.

Dont make decisions when your just after a setback.

Have a beer, fire it on autotrader at sub £1000 category online- ie £999 and it will cost you £8.

Buyer comes to view, buyer to collect, buyer pays prior to sale.

It would cost me another £50 to get it home - rather lose £150 and just get shot of it!  :'(

Might be worth while (gently) expressing your disappointment to the guy -- he might just feel guilty enough to stump up some of the costs .... If t'was me who put someone in that position I would have offered costs up front

It's a waste of time putting yourself out to accommodate car buyers. Did the same when selling Mrs. KW's old fiesta. Agreed to meet a guy only for him to offer 1/2 the asking price and get upset when I eventually had to almost physically remove him from the passenger seat and drive off cos he wouldn't take "no" for an answer.

If they want it they'll come to you.

James - don't waste time and money with ebay when selling (good) cars, use AT (and not the online 'dangle berries', the printed one)

Good brief..

Here also in my country too many time wasters.. >:(

And I learned another lesson..Dont sell to a person who is a trader..

Who will profit your situation.. >:(

My decision is either they will pay its value or I'll really burn it..
