Clicking Starter
« on: 26 January 2014, 18:01:31 »

Hi all
Recently purchased a 2.2DTI with starting issues, anyway last night she stopped turning over and started clicking at me   ;-)   The battery needed charging which I did last night and on re fitting it this morning the clicking continues and she wont fire over.......

Is this the sign of a new starter motor?

Cheers

Give starter a belt with a mallet.

Pop in gear (ign off) and push the car a few inches.

Let us know which one cures it

Actually, first, turn headlights on, and try to start. Do headlights dim?

Battery might be toast, if it's been charged over night and still not turning over :-\

Have you tried jump starting it from another car?

Time to belt with a mallet then. Whilst there, ensure the connects and engine ground straps are in tact

I'll leave that for a 2.2DTi owner, as I've never owned one, and starters on Omegas are normally uber reliable, so never had cause to fumble around on other members' cars looking for starters...
