Throwing out phones, electrical and computer stuff
« on: 30 January 2014, 22:46:18 »

I am sat here with boxes of old gear and cannot bring myself to throw it:

Box of iPod leads, fm transmitters, iPod Dock, iPod remote etc etc all circa 2005 and before I suspect. USB cables, headphones, adsl filters, telephone splitters.

Cannot believe it is worth diddly squat.

Tempted to box it and hide it but rather if went somewhere constructive and not the dump.

I spent a few hours this afternoon sorting through my pc collection as swmbo said enough is enough :'(

If I am being honest my pc 'collection' is way beyond enough, guess I am just a born hoarder

Anyhow got seven old pcs ready to go to the dump from 386's to Pentium 2's,  she'll need to try harder if she wants any newer ones taken to the dump ;D

It all started off several years ago with a few ex-office pc's and now resembles a pc's graveyard, :)

I still have to look into sorting out my car stuff :'(

Do you want to buy a 3com III Ethernet link circa 2003? Quite progressive in its time.

Now $3.99 on ebay?

Happily but not sure mods would condone it - plus listing items will be a PITA.

Way too many times :y

Just last week as I was chucking an old pc in the tip I spotted a newish looking Dell, it was only the presence of swmbo that stopped me fishing it out and giving it a loving home ;D

The 3 com network card reminds me that I have a full shoe box of 3 com cards, used to fit them to folks machines that upgraded from dial-up to broadband, just remembered I kept all their bloody modems I swapped out :'(

Freecycle it as "box of random computer stuff" .. someone will have it, I'm sure.

Car boot sales used to be great to get rid of all your 'treasure'

Problem now is that they are full of folk selling pound store junk

Requires an early start but spent many happy weekend mornings there, I forget how many Haynes manuals I got there over the years

Gonna get myself an iPhone one day, when I get over the excrement of being a proud owner of a colour screen mobile and my current SE T68i decides to give up the ghost.  ;)

I sell computerised medical equipment.

Every time we buy a computer, monitor, printer whatever, it comes with a UK power cable and tons of other stuff. We don't use any of it, we use our own for various technical reasons.

I have boxes and boxes of power cables (probably 100s of brand new ones) , VGA cables all sorts. I cant be arsed to eGay it, or Freecycle it, but at the same time its too good to take down the dump. So, my cable pile just gets bigger and bigger. But moving office soon, so it really will need to go !  :y
