Parrot 3100
« on: 02 February 2014, 20:27:13 »

I have one of these in the Elite, already fitted when bought. Does anyone know how I programme it for voice recognition. The handbook barely mentions it. :-\ :-\ :-\

Mine is working with my Nokia Lumia on voice recognition - first job though is to make sure you update to latest software which is well set out on Parrot site. Is then a matter of adding voice tags and working with the Advanced Setting menu from memory or maybe even just the Voice Recognition menu where you input the basic commands. Once set up you just press green key - wait for beep and then say the name

Thanks, but how do I put new software into it? Can I do this with an iPhone? :-\ :-\ :-\

I've downloaded the software to my PC, and the software update tool is now asking what update method I wish to use:

Serial Connection
Bluetooth Connection
Bluetooth virtual serial connection

Any suggestions, as this is in the realms of magic as far as I'm concerned? :-\ :-\ :-\

I can't find a bluetooth reader in my PC, and I've no idea what a serial connector is, unless it is a cable of some sort. :-\ :-\ :-\

If you have a laptop or netbook with bluetooth then it will be easier - basically you download software to Bluetooth enabled laptop and select the Bluetooth option but you will also be paring the parrot 3100 with the laptop so it will update the software. I used to do this on 3 separate parrots we had in various cars and it is much easier than it sounds. Watch that you haven't go too many devices paired already - I think the max on 3100 is 5 so check out and delete all unnecessary pairings - then start again - pairing code is 1234 from memory.

If your laptop doesn`t have bluetooth then you can buy usb bluetooth adapters, don`t cost much but can be really handy ;-)

Right, so effectively, the Parrot pairs itself with a bluteooth enabled computer on which I have downloaded the software (but the iPhone can't be used for this?), and once paired you then select the bluetooth connection option in the update menu?

not saying you cannot use IPhone I have just never tried it. If you have downloaded the parrot software onto the iPhone and it is asking you whether to connect by serial/usb or Bluetooth then just select bluetooth and see if it Parrot will take it.

when I go to download the Parrot software on Nokia Lumia it says that "file is not safe to download". Doesn't appear to be an ignore option either.

I've never used the iPhone other than as a phone, so I'll try the Bluetooth laptop route, or Bluetooth dongle. :y :y :y
