Which song.....
« on: 07 February 2014, 11:42:28 »

...... instantly brings back a memory and transports you back to a certain place and time in your past?  :)

I was driving along the other day when The Macarena by Los Del Rio came on and it took me back to when I lived in a backpackers hostel in Sydney and there was a nightclub behind and every night they played it as their last song. It was almost like a lullaby!  ::)  Happy days!!  :y :y :y

So not necessarily your favourite song but one that bring back strong memories for whatever reason.  :)

Oh, give me strength! That song takes me back to a bar on Rhodes when a mate of mine decided to try (and fail - badly) to sing it karaoke. :o

They always used to play the star trek theme at uni as the last song after a couple of slow numbers. ;D

Bat out of hell by Mr Loaf always takes me back to when I was a long haired motorcyclist,  I still have my bikers jacket, problem is it seems to have shrunk over the years ;D

It's all coming back to me now... Either or... not written for Celine Dion by Jim Steinman, but she did it justice :y

When Mr Loaf finally recorded it, it came into its own 8)

I managed to get several consecutive cars on a cable car in the Canadian rockies singing that one evening on the way down the mountain after a particularly rowdy apres ski party. Came to one of the stations where they hook you onto the next bit of cable and there was an F150 pickup truck parked outside.. And a bloke with a checked shirt inside. :-X Did wonder if there'd be an "accident" when it came to our car, so quickly tried to change the tune to the first thing that came into my head - Bohemian Rhapsody, I think it was. ;D

Oh, Iron Maiden - Remember Tomorrow. Not sure why that song, but it was one of many on the compilation tape in the stereo when myself and a few mates went for a little break in Snowdonia soon after learning to drive. We decided to ascend Snowdon via Crib Goch (is there any other way - when you're 17?) anyway, about half way up, one of the party (later to be my best man, as it turned out) decided that now would be a great time to decide he's petrified of heights and he duly assumed the foetal position. :o

We spent about half an hour discussing ever more extreme methods of getting him back to the youth hostel, when suddenly he got up, and proceeded to walk along the knife-edge path as if nothing had happened. He then become a keen climber, going ice climbing up Mont Blanc and all sorts. :o

Macarena reminds me of our eldest girl singing it on karaoke whilst on holiday in Majorca when she was 12ish, 26 now

Loads of songs, loads of memories. Could make a long list but with me it's certain tunes always get me remembering my yoof, and the simplicity of early days TV

Animal Magic - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwxsaTaVhC4. The great Johnny Morris
Vision On/Take Hart - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCI5ig9QawU - The great Tony Hart
