The 2.2DTi is a nice motorway cruiser. It won't win any races from a standing start though. Most DTi owners on here seem to get 35-45 mpg depending on use.

What spec is the car? Looks Elite, but pictures aren't that great.

I Thought that too about then arches....He says he has them for the front but not got round to putting them on, I tried him with a £450 from £600 he came back with £525, But I reckon we'll settle on £500.....Its an Elite model on a 51 plate.

Check how bad the rust is under those arches, and also at bottom of rear doors and sill (open doors).

DTi, check for any signs of boosting faults.

Most other issues aren't insurmountable

seems like i'm off to view it this thursday after a chat with the owner. he tells me that he's owned it for 4 yrs, everything works, no oil leaks, heated seat front and rear very near mint, limo tinted glass, only rust to speak of is a tiny bubble near the boot badge and a small bubble on the rear door about the size of a thumb nail as for the chrome arches, they've been on it from when he bought it and never been a problem for him, he tells me he's selling due to a house move and on longer has room for three cars. I can't see that i can loose much by buying it....if it goes wrong after a month: fit the wheels to my Zaffy, claim the Tax back then sell it for banger racing :'(

2.2 dti = excellent, so long as the vacuum and fuel system is looked after. The leak back pipes perish and let air in causing bad starting. The vacuum system joints perish causing all sorts of nasties.

Thank you all very much for your thoughts and advise about this car, but I have talked myself out of this deal, I can't bring myself to part with £500 for a car with 151000 on the clock....really wanted them wheels though, did think about buying it just for the wheels then resell it with a set of Vectra B sri wheels on and hope to get a decent amount my money back. Oh well I'll stick with my trusty old 1.8 Cavalier for now.
