Humax HDR FOX T2
« on: 22 February 2014, 20:35:02 »

We've had this for a few years now, no problems till last night. We watched something that'd obviously had a bad reception when recorded, badly pixilated  at times ..... anyway, when we tried to delete it, it's locked up - showing *deleting in the corner of the screen.
I've tried the usual turn off & on ...... didn't work. Turned off all night, turned on this morning ...... didn't work. Downloaded what I think is the latest software 1.02.32 to a pen drive (didn't note what was already installed  :-[), stuck pen drive into the back (broke the HDMI cable  ???) (replaced HDMI cable :y ) turned Humax back on, it booted up off the pen drive, it installed restarted and ................ didn't work!

Any sensible suggestions please

When you say it didnt work.....do you mean it still locks up trying to delete the program or just locks up straight away? If the former, it maybe hard disk corruption and doing a format on the disk may map out the corrupt sectors.  :-\ If the later, do you have another (500G/1TB) hard drive to try it in?

Our media centre did more or less the same last week, I decided the HDD was shagged when I got home after four hours and the disk check progress had only made it to 9%

It just sits there trying to delete. You can still change channels via it but don't have the ability to pause telly. It won't even delete other recorded programmes, it looks like it has, but then when you go back to the stored programmes they're all back again.  :-\  :-\

No, I don't have another hard drive to try.   :(

Try doing a HDD test and or format the drive (the later will delete all recordings)

I suspect it is the HD, as AndyRoid sugests, but trying the above first may prove it.

Is it a 500G or 1TB disk?....if the 500G, would be good time to upgrade it to 1TB  :y

I phoned Humax who were very helpful when I had a similar problem with my old box. Worth a try. :y

I can switch the unit on ......... after that ..... er!  :-\

I'd thought of that ...... do I use my 3/8 drive or 1/4 drive socket set?  ::) ::)

What software release is it on? 1.01.09 was solid but I have not used our Humax for some time now with the BT set up.

Try digitalspy forum for stuff on this if you haven't already.

As above, I didn't note what was already on it, but it now has 1.02.32 installed from a pendrive

I can get to settings, then system but data storage is 'greyed out' and you can't get to it  :(

Can you get 1.01.09 installed from a pendrive - this does not have autodelete I believe.
