Exhausts ?
« on: 24 February 2014, 21:29:06 »

I've a hole in the join where the two pipes merge into the back box.

It's not weldable (according to my mech) so now after a new back box.

Vx want £110ish and GFS can get one for £70ish

My question is, are pattern copy's worth messing around with or do I go for original part from VX?

2002 2.6 CDX

Thanks

I'm not sure genuine are as good as they used to be, and as a result pattern parts make financial sense.
Eternal have been recommended and are well used here.
Personal preference and circumstance will dictate imho  :)

Yes I was wondering if quality would be similar. I was reading the thread on 2.2 exhaust and like the idea of eternal. Found this one but my mid boxes are in good condition  http://r.ebay.com/iEx9H4

But also found this back box and was going to get this http://r.ebay.com/5uaT28 but never heard of the make so wondering if any one else has? Also list that it will fit a 2.2 as well.

Now thinking do I treat myself to a stainless box for a little bark. But do to want anything to stupid as want to keep the car original look.

Klarius is supplied by euro car farts ... I would never get them again after the 2 sections that I bought for my rover 216 sli fitted so badly, and the noise was awful (no idea what they are like for the migs though

Try this one (for saloon) - good reviews by other OOFers - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-B-2-5-1994-2000-Exhaust-Rear-Silencer-/150480036588?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AOmega&hash=item23094f22ec

Estate back box is different ;)

Eternal not showing Omega exhausts on their web site any more

Either Eternal or ETS make known decent exhausts for the Omega. I personally use Eternal, but I know tunnie has an ETS on his 3.2.

Both should come in at about £100 delivered for all 3 pieces. Change all 3 together, as any parts you think are good most likely aren't (exhausts rust from the inside), and you'll probably break it trying to separate it anyway.

Agree that a full set of eternal is the best solution - my first one installed now 5 yrs old and still perfect.....

Thanks everyone for the great advice.
I've just ordered the Eternal one and will change all 3 boxes as recommended. It still comes in cheaper that a rear box from VX so v pleased.   😃

Hi all

I fitted my exhaust as recommended by cleggy and b4ndit. Great value for money and fitted perfectly. Thanks for the advice guys.

The only issue I had was snapping 3 of the 4 bolts on the cats, but soon sorted with a grinder and big drill bit.

Also seem to have gained more power and smother acceleration 😃

Yes, easy to shear the bolts into cat section. Lots of plusgas often helps, but sometimes you have to resort to drilling and retapping (my preference rather than nut and bolt)
