Irmscher Wood Effect Steering Wheel
« on: 03 March 2014, 15:32:25 »

After letting my Old Elite go I decided to see what my retained Irmscher wood effect steering wheel looked like on the new Elite and suddenly realised that the original spec of pure black leather/wood didnt match the interior of the newer models. :-[

Did Irmscher make a revised colour leather wheel to compliment the new style leather found in the F/L Elites as mine seems to be more grey/black than the pure black of the older MFL models.

Assume I will now need to look on German Ebay for a matching wheel and look to move my original one on

Its designed to match dash, not seats. Same as gearstick, handbrake etc.

It does match both gear selector and hand brake as smooth polished black leather
Just looked a tad odd against the grey/black of seats and dash panel
Suppose if that's how they are then will stick with existing wheel and have to sell on the Irmscher one as I am not keen on the contrast
Hey ho

Hey ho
There were 2 types to match the early/late wood, though I think even later one was black.

The wood effect is a good match ,its the high shine black that looks strange against the majority leather colour of dash/seats etc.

If its the more shiny of the 2 wood effect wheels, its the right one for later cars.

Was available for face lifts in four combinations...

1. charcoal/matt wood
2. charcoal/gloss wood
3. baby poo brown/matt wood
4. baby poo brown/gloss wood

Shiny black is a sign of heavy use/cleaning or a pre/mid facelift wheel :y

Did they not make a Black / Grey Carbon Fibre one?

Although having said that, wouldn'y know what it looked like if it jumped out in front of me and whacked me in the Face. Hopefully the Airbag would go off before that!  ::)

Stand corrected, face lift also came in charcoal/aluminium, whereas the earlier ones had more variety due to a wider selection of interior trims, including carbon fibre and gloss black :y

Wood effect is a great match it's the black that just seems wrong for the other trim although it looked perfect in my old FL Elite
Sure I remember seeing wheels with a perforated leather as opposed to the smooth finish and think that would look better

All facelift Irmscher wheels are perforated, might explain the visual effect  :-\

Ebay.de is your friend in the search for one :y

New they're typically €249 buy it now, but occasionally they crop up in auctions for alot less :y

Cheers Al for info and confirming why the wheel appeared so different across the 2 cars.

Price is what I was expecting for new in all fairness so will have a look across at german ebay and see what I can find and if UK shipping is available.

Need to sell on the other for the MFL then to help off set the costs now.

Thanks :y
