Sugar
« on: 06 March 2014, 10:26:31 »

On the news this morning...according to various health agencies, adults should have no more than six spoons of sugar each day. I've already had three cups of coffee with two teaspoons in each, so I'm gonna have to pretend to be a typical British person and say that they didn't say what sized spoon.  :)

There was a time when I had six heaped spoons in a single cup of tea...

We did an exercise at school where we had to measure out how much sugar, hidden and added, that we consumed in any given week. Mine was summat in the order of 7 kilos :-[

Mmmm... Well I can't stand tea or coffee without sugar so I'll just have to cut down I suppose. At the moment I probably drink around 5-6 cups a day,so not kicking the arse out of it.
Swmbo uses sweeteners, makes the drink taste bloody awful IMO

Baked beans are full of sugar, as is bread. :)

It's not all bad though, because there is no sugar in chocolate and cakes. ::) ::) ::) :)

So, yesterday it was too much protein, today it's too much sugar.... Maybe we should just starve? ::)

Baked beans are full of sugar,  .....

Heinz Beanz were one of the  products noted for how much sugar they do contain .... but IIRC we do a lower sugar/lower salt version  :-\

Sugar is the new tobacco they say. Hot sugar smells nice, so I don't buy it, frankly.

Pancake day yesterday. Plus half a dozen cups of tea. Way over. ::)

Talking about Sugar, have a play with this.

http://bartbonte.com/sugarsugar/

Warning, as you go through the levels, its additive and time consuming.  :o

when the pancreas cells announce game over, you can hardly take a time extension in which you have to check your blood and inject insuline frequently.. so its your decision, to take that inevitable time point back ..

Wife and son use Stevia, it,s a plant extract. Costs about £15 for 12 oz on line and you need very little to taste.
It,s got to be better than sweeteners which contain Aspartame. :y

I used to be a sugar fiend, having about four spoons in a cup of tea - now I can't stand tea with it in.

I do so dislike the amount of advice and 'dangle berries' we get told, if we followed every bit of nutrition agvice at once we'd be living on water. But only the purest, from the tap, not a bottle, but not from the tap unless it's been Brita filtered, but then check the filter is clean and sterile, but don't use too much sterilising agent, etc, etc... :y
