Hello to all:
I'm considering uprgading the Engine of my Omega (2003 2.2i Automatic)
Which is easier: to replace it with 2.5 V6 OR to 2.6 V6 ...  what about wiring & ECU
Regarding the Gearbox: should it be replaced?

Could supercharge it with the minimum of fuss . Gm sold several models with a supercharged 2.2...

Might be easier to source the parts for instead of the traditional v6 route

If changing engines, fit a cheve v8 ls1, Ls2 or Ls3 out of a caprice/lumina/Holden comadore.

Should be a few in the scrap yards out there?

Must be a good source of V8's out there? As above, if going to the hassle of engine changing, might as well make it worth it and go V8

It's easier on left hand drive cars as the left bank is offset forward. Just gives that extra bit of room between the headers and steering box.

iirc fuel is not that expensive in jordan so plenty of cheap v6-v8 must be around.. waste of time all that mechanical and electrical  work imo..

Ok Guys I'll answer you all in on reply:
1) Fuel is not cheap in Jordan (1 Liter of Octane 95: 1.015 JOD= 1.035 EUR= 0.86 GBP)
2) The V6 Omega's are very few in Jordan & not known (except for Omega people like me..that's why Engine size is not mentioned in: Omega for sale Sir.. it is assumed to be L4), and it is hard to find one for sale in good conditions.
3) For me I prefer multi-cylinders & big capacity engines on supercharged or turbocharged 4-cylinders engines .. because I believe that in Multi-cylinders & big capacity Engine the performance is real while in small turbocharged Engine the performance is fake..
4) Believe or not upgrading & modifying different cars in Jordan is an ordinary & easy thing .. why??? easily because cars are very expensive in Jordan so it is cheaper to upgrade your car than buying originally & modern high performance car ... for example I bought my car recently with: 10,500 JOD (8,863 GBP,  10,706 EUR), upgrading it to V6 will cost me more or less 1000 JOD (850 GBP, 1000 EUR) ... in fact my mechanic (Opel specialist) have done this upgrading for Omega several times without any problems.
5)I don't like another car Engine on my car ... I want an Opel Omega Engine on my car.
6)I love to have a 3.0 or 3.2 V6 Engine on my Car but unfortunately I can't .. Jordan regulations allow me to increase the Capacity by only 30% of original capacity .. so the options are 2.5 & 2.6 engines.
7)I prefer 2.5 V6 Engine because according to Jordan regulations my car is in the category: 2001cc - 2500cc so if I install a 2.6 Engine the car will be moved to category: 2501cc - 3000cc & accordingly the yearly registration fees will increase (which is already high) ... but the problem is the 2003 Omega was produced with 2.6 Engine not with 2.5 Engine so I thought maybe it is easier to install the 2.6 engine.

So again my friends:

That is cheap 
1 litre of petrol here is around £1.35   

Sorry, can't really answer you conversion question though

Given the choice, go with the 2.6
No secondary injection/idle control valve/egr valve.
Better exhaust manifolds against the 2.5, a smidgen more torque and power

As for gearbox, either manual or an AR35 to replace the AR25 fitted to the 2.2

I am Shadi alomari from Irbid-Jordan.
The reason for engine upgrading that you need more powerful car....which is understood.
But  as you said you are not allowed to do that due to shit regulation.
I am facing the same problem with my omega 2.2.
So the best choice for you is the super charger if you can get one from GM.
