I have been clay shooting for years now it is NOT a dear hobby it can be though like any other pastime it is great fun and it does become addictive.  :y Guns are not anywhere near as expensive as golf clubs unless you are like some on here very wealthy and can afford a boss or a Holland and Holland or a purdey  ::)

Shot himself in the foot?

Nope  :P

But shooting was involved  ::)

Yes I guessed that much ;D

Where did you go? Expensive?

....although your brave posting it on here for when TB sees it. There'll be carnage.

West London School of Shooting, being London it was expensive, but work paid  :D

We did 4 x 10 clays at different stands, then 30 clays, 3 people at a time, it was a 'mass shoot out'

I won though! Group of 15 of us, I'd never been before, score was out of 32, 8 best shots taken per stand, I got 28  8)

It can be addictive, ::)

and VERY expensive .... shells, clays, club membership are just the start ... then you'll want the "right" clothing, glasses, and finally ... when you want your own gun ........  just how much do you want to pay ..... (and then the licence to own said gun, and the storage/security aspects) ... all adds up to an expensive hobby (that is however, bloody good fun :) )

Have to disagree here, it's not that expensive, given what it is:

Shells? Well for around £175, gets you 1,000 shells.

Gun license I was told is £50, lasts 5 years. Basic CRB checks.

Membership at a rather posh place up the road, £275 for the year, which includes gun storage and discount at clays. Around £7 for 25

The biggest outlay is the gun, but buy second hand and like motorbikes, they don't really fall in value really.

Or just turn up and shoot, £55 gets you 50 clays, a gun, a tutor  :)

so over £1 a shot .... and you fired 70 on your last visit .. so repeat that every weekend and tell me its cheap ..  :)

Yes, but that's with a tutor, gun rental, ect.

As Kevin says it's not that expensive, the guns are cheaper than a set of golf bats!  :o

As regards shooting I get to Holland and Holland at Northwood now and then which is pretty good. Mate of mine is really into it  - spends a fortune on Olympic Trap. We had his 50th at Bisley Ranges also not bad but not as interesting as Northwood.

This place?

Prices look similar to West London, I thought my teacher was excellent, guess that is reflected in the price.

Have you got a link to Windlesham? I can't appear to find one  :-\

Took me a while to get to grips with what is local, you have National Clay School think at Bisley, there also appears to be the 'posh' place in the same grounds? One is half the price of the other.

My drop you a PM for a bit of advice   :y
