bugger........
« on: 09 June 2008, 09:15:44 »

driving to work and the car in front pulls off and so do i then suddenly slams on the brakes for no reason....but i didn't  :o

it gets better - had a look at her car no damage but then i realise why... she's got a tow bar :'(

go back to my car and it doesn't look bad at all just number plate then i notice the water dripping out under the bumper :'(

got to work and preliminary findings are it might just be the washer bottle :y

wish me luck :D

With a bit of luck it will just be a bent bumper reinforcer and the washer bottle :y

Yes, but it pops off in about 5 mins.  You'll have to remove brace across behind bumper as well - comes off easy enough, more challenging putting back on...

Yep

The washer bottle fits into the shape of the bumper reinforcer which is behind the bumper.

I had a similar bump when parked; a 4 x 4 reversed into my Miggy :'(
Her towball punched a hole in the bumper but the real damage was to the reinforcement beam and the power-steering hydraulic fluid steel-pipes which were squashed flat....`hope the damage to yours isn`t too severe. ::)

me too :-/ it was only slow but it made enough noise

what pees me off is it wouldn't have happened if they'd just carried on rather than dawdling about, but in the eyes of the law it was my fault i guess ::)

update -

not terminal phew 8-)

hit towbar square in the centre so above steel hydraulic pipes it appears to have bent the inner metal reinforcing piece so i'm going to have to take the bumper off and get my old friend 'lumpy' out ;D

guessing the washer bottle is FUBAR as it emptied it's content - only worry is the bottle is now wedged against the fans so better not get too hot on way home :-/

Can they rotate?

right hand one as you look at it seems free but the left is quite stiff - is the front rad the air con condensor or the engine rad?
