They say things go in threes ......  

Cooking my dinner, microwave goes POP, stops working and a few strands of smoke .... take it apart and the main input power board is "not a pretty sight" ... replacement one ordered after SWTSMBO has looked at about 50 ......       £75

After dinner, load the dishwasher set it going, 10 minutes later a BANG from the kitchen, all power sockets die ...  check the supply board, downstairs sockets has tripped, reset, goes again in 2 seconds, unplug dishwasher, reset .. all working fine..... I have no idea how to dismantle a built-in dishwasher ... so tomorrow I'll be phoning around for an "engineer" to come and suck his teeth and shaft me no doubt ...  

So ... what is going to fail next ......

Heater element failures are favourite for tripping C.B`s.......if the element in your dishwasher is the in-side type (visible as a large 'kettle' element laying flat under the under bottom basket), then they are easily changed.
In-line 'hose mounted' heaters are usually under the floor accessed from the front bottom trim panel (under the hinged bottom of the drop-down door).

I bought a dishwasher heater via an eBay seller and saved a packet on engineer call-out costs.

On me way to look ...    Nice one Debs ..

Edit .. no heater visible inside, and I can't see anyway of getting to any bits and pieces... there MUST be a way of sliding it out but I can't see it.

It's a fully built in unit and the only visible screws that might be securing it have a wierd head, like an offset torx.

It is De Deitrich so bound to be complicated ..

Thanks for the idea Debs .. makes me feel a tad better anyway ... a new heater element will be cheaper than a new machine ..

Yes, they`re the ones; `anti-tamper heads but, I used mole-grips to 'tamper' with mine .......nearly all the mechanical parts are inside that cover. The posher-ones have a slide-out tray with the pump and heater attached.
A bit like Tv`s many dishwashers have 'common' internals made by Italian or German suppliers.
As a guide: the in-pipe (hose mounted) heaters cost approx £28. from online appliance parts sellers.
