Why does every turbo diesel car..........
« on: 21 March 2014, 10:45:08 »

....seem to travel at 56 MPH on the inside lane of the motorway?

My theory is that their owners are trying to replicate the manufacturers fuel consumption figures. ::) ::) ::)

They are doomed to fail. ;D

In the case of the Battlebus, that's flat out ;D

I was shocked when I first drove the Battlebus to MDTM's place, driving up the M1/A46 in a car that simply wouldn't go, having to overtake other cars driving so slow. Speed limits are the target to hit in clear weather.

Don't forget that the target limit is 60 on some motorway stretches, so everyone who is being overtaken by trucks and buses are doing an indicated 58-60, so are actually only doing 54-55...  :-X

a high percentage of diesel owners here is for commercial use.. and they are so in a hurry that they can compete with F1 drivers..
and other private diesel owners also rarely go slow trusting their low fuel consumption.. so fuel economy already out the window .. ;D

that's the only possible reason for buying a diesel, surely - to try and eke oput every last possible drop of fuel irrespective of the pain it causes to you and all around

This one has a problem, as per the thread in General Car Chat.  Maybe my expectations of a 100bhp diesel are too high, but this one ain't right.  We've owned/leased a could of mid 1990s Rover 400s with Rovers 100bhp L series lump in, and they were great...  ...although car undoubtedly lighter.

A touch harsh MrOpti ::)

The seven seats are as alleged as the power output, rather than a sudden requirement  ;D

Or a 2.0DTi, with nearer 50bhp. Do they have 7 seats? That's as much use as a used johnny smeared in dogshit for me

Having just watched World war Z on'telly, I believe the world is infected by some more subtle Zombie virus designed to repress. Have you been to Asda recently? Sadly they don't avoid me like water round a rock though. :(

  Or mine. 2500 rpm is my usual cruising speed, and I have a high diff.
