Taxing a SORN Omega.
« on: 01 April 2014, 20:10:11 »

What do I need?

The car currently has no insurance. Is there a special road tax form from the Post Office that I need to fill in?

If the V5C is in your name, you can do either;

Insure the vehicle and tax online, providing it has a current MOT and the reg number appears on the MID. If it's a new policy it can take sometime to appear.

Or, at your post office - take the V5C, MOT and Insurance cert and they can tax for you. No special forms are needed.

A most astute observation, Steve.

It appears that those 'very nice people' at HMRC have a different view to myself on how much income tax I should pay. :'( :'(

Begging doesn't seem to appeal to their better nature either......because they don't have one. :'(

If all goes to plan the 'Big German' should be gone by 10.00 a.m this Saturday. :'(

I'll be taking a sizeable hit.....but that's life. :-\

Sympathies, Opti. I'm in quite a chilled mood at the moment, so I'm not going to talk about HMRC, or I won't be chilled for long.

Never mind Opti, the Omega is a far superior motor car anyway and with the cash you'll save in servicing costs you'll be able to pay your tax bill!!!  :)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=301134050262&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:3160

I'm roughly £1400 down in total. :(....Oh well.

I paid £6750.......so lost £400 there.......Plus 10 months tax (about £230).......Plus £636 for the new 'airbag'.

So.....£1266 ish for two and a half months of Mercedes ownership. Hmmm.....It's only money, and could have been worse. :y :y

What pisses me off the most is that I'll never see this money again.......or the other £6,000. :'( :'(

I keep telling you lot that Mr Opti is 'piss poor'.........but will you listen. :P :P ;D ;)
