Today Iv changed the front hub on my Omega because the previous owned decided to shear off a wheel bolt and never bothered changing the hub so that the wheels are held on with 5 bolts instead of 4....

So anyhoo, Iv succesfully changed the front hub but the ABS sensor was welded into the original hub and upon attempting removal its broken.... not happy...

I have a good ABS sensor from the Vectra B Iv just stripped and was wondering - with the vast knowledge on here - as to whether or not it would work... It physically fits but dunno if it will work with the Omega's system...??

Could anybody tell me if it'll work or not, Iv got to take it for its MoT on Thursday and it could be just this that it fails on....

No idea. I suspect so. Easy way to find out ;)

They can be a sod to remove as you found out.

Did the remains of the stud not simply unscrew ::)

Worst case, new wheel bearing/hub assembly :-\

Maybe I missed summat :-X

I think OP has the old sensor off, but buggered it in the process, and asking if one from a Veccy will be suitable...

Yeah 4 bolts not 5 LOL


@ Taxi - Iv replaced the hub for a fresh hub as the previous owner snapped a wheel bolt by it being cross threaded and its in FT, Iv tried me best to remove it with easy outs but it just aint having none... Easiest solution was to replace the hub (cost £10 fro local scrappy, and was tested for it being good or not before removal from the donor vehicle)...


If it doesn't work with the Omega where would I get 1.... do I go to an internet auction site...? I can't put a wanted thread up because restrictions on my membership on here at the moment...

I suppose only 1 way to find out I guess :lol:

That was how I read it :y but why go to the grief of changing the hub/having to swap the abs sensor/getting geometry reset etc etc for a sheared wheel bolt :-\

Why not change the hub/bearing on its own, for the reasons above ::)

As for post counts etc, simply post a wanted ad in the test zone and ask a kindly admin to move it  :y

I changed the whole assy as it seemed to be easier to do that than change the front hub bearing and flange...

I shall fit the Vectra sensor and see what happens... only a 5 minute job

I have twice changed front hub, bearing and ABS sensor complete with lumps from Steve Brown oemgaspareparts.com. He charged me £20 each time. All I needed had been the ABS sensors. Easy to fit.
