Hi guys,

Been out and took some photos of das auto.

It doesn't seem to be too bad (I've certainly seen a shed load worse in college) but remembering my goal of keeping this car for a long, long time should I get it seen to now or can it wait?

UNDERNEATH
#1. Rust at the beginning of the chassis leg. Similar on both sides hence I only took a pic of the drivers' side

#2. Sill rust. This piece is about 12" along the sill from front backwards and then it stops and goes to silver metal

#3. Where the chassis rail meets the jacking point

BODYWORK
#4. I hate this wheel arch! I've had it fixed once and now it's come back

#5. Inside the boot behind the wing (last pic). I'm presuming that the rusty wheel arch and this part here are all one piece thus I can get a new wing welded in and tarted up and that will be that? Or like usual have I missed something?

#6. Rear passenger door.

#7. One piece of rust rear passenger inner body panel (where door covers when shut). Would this be deep or not bearing in mind it's not bubbling or spread since I got the car 5 years ago?

SO. What's the verdict (other than new car, STEMO  ;D). I'm thinking save up and have the under-car rust repaired and then blast it all with underseal. Then save up (again  ::)) and get a new wing (rear drivers' side) welded in and have that other body work done as well.

As said I want to keep this car for ages so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Rust always comes back, Webby, unless you chop all of the affected area out. You have to know when it's time to call it quits. Up to you, mate.

Definitely want this as a keeper, Steve. All of the above work to have the rust chopped out and new welded in..... are we talking millions of Rupees?

Get a quote and ask yourself is the car worth it, taking into account you can pick up a reasonable omega for a few hundred quid.

Or......see if anyone on here will do it for you. I seem to remember the mad mechanic is very handy with a welder.

I don't know your area but it would have to be an independent back street garage. There's a lot of labour there.

And the rusty underbelly bits just spray them with old engine oil or get a rag and smudge it all underneath  :y

Symes... that's very kind of you mate!!! Are you the man to employ for welding in new metal if necessary? I'll pay of course.

Just roughly, based on the photos what would you want for fixing all that? Can you do the wheelarch also??
